Visit to old people's home

caa-old-peeps
On Thursday the 3rd of December 2009. Tim, Sinta, Martin, Emma and Jana went to on old people home and sang some Christmas carols for the residents. We were also able to  sing some of the songs that we were going to do at Azzurro.

I really enjoy the experience - it was nice just to talk tand get to know them and what they have been doing in their life. One thing that amazed me was how chatty the old folks. I did not expect to get much out of them but one lady told me everything about the people there. It was amazing to see how alert she still is.

When Tim said that we were going into the old peoples home I was not that keen about it as I did not really want to go in because I did not think they would listen and it would be like other practices for us.I remember seeking God and just asking him to help me get through this. So when the day arrived, I was so excited and just could not wait to go because I began to see the bigger picture and understood that I wasn’t doing this for myself. I really enjoyed it and had so much fun.

I just want to thank Tim, Sinta, and Martin for giving me this great opportunity of going into the home.

Azzurro Night - Testimony

caa-azzurro-night
When I first heard that we were going to play in a restaurant, I felt really excited, yet quite a bit anxious as well. To play piano, sing, perform in front of people has always given me quite a fright; a stress. The fear of failing has always been so big that I would start stressing long in beforehand and thereby start focussing on the wrong things. Then when they told me I was going to play bass (which I hadn’t played before), I completely freaked out.

But then we started practising and practising and practising, and I really started to enjoy and love it. When then finally the evening itself was approaching, there was hardly any (unhealthy) stress. I was really excited and so looking forward to it.

The evening was amazing! I had so much fun and it was so great to see the other guys step out as well. It was an awesome experience and really helpful to get over those nerves. The support from all the Jubilee guys was so encouraging. It’s great to have such a fabulous bunch of people behind you. Thank you everybody for the encouragements – Thank You Father for the opportunities to grow.

CAA Update

Emma-ralf-piano

So what have we been up to at the CAA, you ask. So far since our orientation we have worked our way through Solid Foundations, Biblical Worship and Praise, music theory, transcribing, Positioned for Blessing, tech week, band dynamics with Ralf, and an introduction to the Training Centre week.

We have also been to go to a fantastic COTN European Conference in Plymouth, played for a dentist appreciation evening and have been busy with individual instrument development and vocal training. All of which will come out at our up and coming Blue Azzurro evening on the 4th of December.

But personally, I’m so thankful to God for the close family feel to this years CAA and God has been busy stretching our capacities and restoring us to wholeness through his awesome love. With Christmas and the holidays fast approaching there’s still carols to be learnt, the lifestyle of the worshipper to be explored and a surprise to finish the term, for all to enjoy and for God to do His thing with us!

First 'Show' of the year!

On Wednesday 14 October 2009, we (CAA students) had our first official CAA performance of the year for Jacobeth’s ‘Red Carpet’ Dentist appreciation evening. We created a chilled atmosphere by providing instrumental background music while the dentists enjoyed canape’s and cocktails in real red carpet style. Although we felt the pressure of our normal course work combined with the preparations for the evening’s music, it was amazing to officially play together for the first time. Thank you Jubilee Jacobeth for giving us this opportunity to serve and also to our leaders Tim, Sinta and Martin for all their input and support.

CAA Orientation

The 2-week CAA orientation 2009 for students and staff began in Plymouth, Devon. We spent the first week at the lovely SWEAT (South West Equipping And Training) house and enjoyed the scenic beauty of Plymouth's Barbican. The students: Alan, Emma and Jana, were stretched creatively, spiritually, mentally and also physically. During this first week they were equipped with some handy tools that will benefit them for the course and also for life, such as to recording songs, writing film script, filming and editing. On top of that they had to memorise about 50 scriptures. But we also had some family fun time together: cooking, playing Sing Star and a walk to see Mayflower Steps.

The culmination of the first week was the 24-hour challenge – where students had to put into practice what they’ve so far learnt in literally 24 hours. They worked well together as a team and completed the challenge in approximately 22 hours.

After a week in Plymouth, CAA joined YOT, SWEAT and TIC’s at Trencreek for the 2nd week orientation. During the second week, the students from four different schools worked as a group doing a various of team building activities. CAA bunch also produced a presentation about the 2-week orientation. All in all, we had a brilliant two weeks and grew closer together.

"My highlight of orientation was the day we were chained together in small groups. It was fun to work in a team; to do those ‘silly’ things in Tintagel. It was good to learn to be accountable towards other people, you constantly have to pay attention to what they think. It was great to learn to work with others and to listen to one another."  Emma Vanhyfte
